Cabrillo Forward Curtis Bias Signs with Bellevue University......
Cabrillo College forward Curtis Bias has signed scholarship papers with Belevue University located in Bellevue, Nebraska. Bias, from Houston, TX, was a starting forward during the Seahawks late run during conference play to help Cabrillo to a ninth conference Championship in the last eleven years. The 6'5" 210 lb, So., averaged 5.5 points in conference play and 7.8 rebounds. Additionally, Bias was one of the Seahawks best defenders. He will join Seahawk teammate Tynan Velasquez at Bellevue next year as he too has signed with the Bruins for the 18-19 school year.
The Bruins compete in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) and are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Bellevue was 21-12 last year and are one of the top NAIA programs in the country.

Acliese Signs with Nicholls State.........

Cabrillo College sophomore forward Linton Acliese as signed scholarship papers and a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to attend Nicholls State University in the Fall of 2018. Nicholls St. is an NCAA Div. I member institution that competes in the Southland Conference. Nicholls is located in Thibodaux, LA. The Colonels finished last season 21-11 and won a share of the Southland Conference Championhip.

Acliese was a two time All-State selection and a two time Coast Conference South Division MVP. The 6'7" 230 lb Manvel TX native averaged 20 points and 9.7 rebs/gm last year to help guide the Seahawks to their 9th Conference Championship in the past 11 years.

Velasquez Signs with Bellevue University.........

Cabrillo College point guard Tynan Velasquez has signed scholarship papers and a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with Bellevue University. Bellevue is located in Bellevue, Nebraska. The Bruins compete in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) and are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Bellevue was 21-12 last year and are one of the top NAIA programs in the country.

Velasquez was the starting point guard for two Coast Conference South Division Championships. The Coloradao Springs native was a 2nd team All-Conference selection in 16-17 and a 1st team All-Conference selection in 17-18. The 6' guard averaged 16.6 points/gm and 6 assists/gm. Velasquez also sho 87.9% from the free throw line on the year in 17-18. In conference play Velasquez averaged 17.7 points/gm and 7 assists/gm last year. SEAHAWKS LINTON ACLIESE EARNS ALL-STATE HONORS AND MORE.............

Cabrillo College forward Linton Acliese was named to the 2018 All-State team for the 2nd consecutive year. Acliese, 6'7" 230lb from Manvel, TX, is the only player in Cabrillo Basketball history to be named to the prestigious All-State team twice. The two time Coast Conference South Division MVP is the most decorated player in Cabrillo Basketball history. This is quite the accomplishment given the fact that Cabrillo has had the MVP of the Coast Conference South Division for the past 8 years in a row and have had many outstanding players over the years.

Aclieses' career started as a post player for Cabrillo as he played the 5 spot his entire MVP/All-State freshman year. He only attempted just over 20 three point shots the entire season. This season he was moved to the 3 spot and shot 42-107 on the yr. (39.9%) and 33-75 in conference play (44%). Needless to say, impressive to be able to improve in such a short period of time. This speaks to the incredible work ethic and drive to improve he has demonstrated.

This year he averaged 20 pts/gm overall and 21.3 in conference play along with 9.7 rebs. overall and 9.4 in conference play. He shot 51% from the floor overall and 47% in conference play and shot 76.9% from the line overall and 80% in conference play.

All that said is very impressive and worthy of acknowledgement but that is only half the story.

Linton Acliese came to Cabrillo in the Fall of 2016 weighing 275 lbs.. Since that time he has lost 50 lbs.. Actually he had lost the 50 lbs. by Feb. of 2017 and has kept it off thru the 17'-18' season.

While at Cabrillo Acliese has won two Coast Conference South Championships with a two year record of 20-4. Scored over 1000 pts and grabbed over 450 rebs.

Acliese has completely transformed his body and his basketball career in two short years.
